Linux Expert Gets 54.20 MPG

My car has a 10-gallon tank. And hat.

54.20 miles per gallon. That’s better than my motorcycle. Nope, my car isn’t a Prius. Nope, it isn’t even a hybrid. No, it isn’t a Geo Metro. Yes, this is a real picture that I took myself, this very morning of my trip meter.

Soo… You forgot to reset the trip meter?

Do tell how you got 54.20 MPG, and what kind of a car it is.

I can only eke out 27 at max on my ancient ’90 nissan p/u.

Forgot to reset it last time you filled up? 🙂

Just for the record, I did, in fact, reset the trip meter the last time I filled up. 🙂 It is a Honda Civic Hatchback VX. Made to get very good gas mileage. Look up hypermiling.

Nothing special, our VW golf caravan has ~56MPG and i know a guy with 62.06MPG 🙂

  5. Scott Morris Says:

@na1pir: Can you give me any more exact specs on the VW golf caravan and especially the guy with 62 MPG?

  6. na1pir Says:

Its my brothers car – VW Golf IV (caravan) 2001 with 1896ccm TDI diesel engine but I am not sure if 90 or 101 HP.

My friends VW Lupo has 62 MPG, TDI 1191 ccm, 61HP… But that is not all I have seen on forums that some guys get 67.2MPG with lupo 🙂 I guess that’s only long distance drive or something like that…

And I know lupo is way to small, but take look at this http://www.gasmileageace.com/vw-polo-tdi/

Yeah, if I had my way, I’d get a 2000 Honda Insight, rated at 60 (city) and 71 (highway). The 54.2 is half city, half highway. I’d like to see what I could do in a single long-distance shot. Anyway. Thanks for the chat.
