OpenSUSE Linux Tips, tricks, how-tos, opinions, and news
My Resume - My LinkedIn Profile - twitter: @scottmmorrisWell, I got tired of waiting for the direct download for the DVD of SUSE Linux 10.1 for the i386 platform. (Yes, I know there’s bittorrent; no likey) So, I made my own. Works very nicely, I must say. I’m making one as we speak for my wicked AMD 64-bit monster at home. You’d think I would have had it on there by now. Unless you didn’t think that. In which case, you’d be correct.
Enjoy, yo.
Just when I open my big mouth, here’s the announcement from Andreas:
We have now released the downloadable DVD version of SUSE Linux 10.1
for the x86 and x86-64 architectures. The downloadable DVD contains
the packages of the 5 CDs and the Addon CD.
It can be downloaded as described below and on http://download.openSUSE.org
Have a lot of fun,
Andreas
P.S.: Here’re the download details:

Hi Scott, Thanks for the torrent tip. It seems so slow to me… have your tried it?
May 18th, 2006 at 3:00 pm
I haven’t. I don’t really care for torrents, as they are gargantuan bandwidth hogs with less-than-spectacular download speeds.

Some mirrors already have the DVD too, they’re really fast.

Anyone know of any CD & DVD labels available for SUSE?
Torrents: I agree: they are very, very slow in my experience. I’ve tried using the torrent path many, many times and rarely ever see fast downloads. I just completed the torrent for this DVD and it completed with an average download speed of 26.5 KB/sec. Pretty ugly.

HI,
I had slow downloads until I checked the 100k mode under settings for you torrent , I then
jumped to 450/500 k down 350 upload maybe your default settings are not set right for your
service. I like UTorrent, and most of the other links were busy or down
I took me around 1 hour for the DVD
